Brightening the Walk to School: Street Corners Get Fresh Coat of Paint

Images of progress being made to paint the street corners near Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy.

As you may have noticed on your daily walk to school, the street murals along Catharine Street at the 20th and 21st Street intersections have been beautifully repainted!

Mural Arts Philadelphia originally brought these vibrant crosswalks to life to make the journey to school more exciting while increasing visibility and safety for our scholars and their families. Over time, however, the art had naturally faded and needed a refresh.

To bring these streetscapes back to vibrant life, the Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy Supporters (MANAS) Building and Grounds Committee teamed up with E.M. Stanton Community Partners, from our neighboring school, to coordinate a full restoration with Mural Arts.

MANAS extends a huge thank you to Mural Arts, Stanton Community Partners, Principal Dr. Nicole Patterson, and the original artist, Malachi Floyd, along with his talented team, for their incredible work on this project!
